Sandberg offers Taber abrasion testing to ASTM C1353 [Standard Test Method for Abrasion Resistance of Dimension Stone Subjected to Foot Traffic Using a Rotary Platform Abraser] for natural stone used in flooring applications.
Compliance can be verified to the following standard requirements :
- ASTM C503 (Standard Specification for Marble Dimension Stone)
- ASTM C568 (Standard Specification for Limestone Dimension Stone)
- ASTM C615 (Standard Specification for Granite Dimension Stone)
- ASTM C616 (Standard Specification for Quartz-Based Dimension Stone)
- ASTM C1527 (Standard Specification for Travertine Dimension Stone)
- ASTM C629 (Standard Specification for Slate Dimension Stone)
All of the above standards reference ASTM C1353 or ASTM C241 as the applicable test method.
Both ASTM C1353 and ASTM C241 are quick test methods and are ideal for the evaluation of stone at selection, approval and quality control during the processing stages of a project.
Taber abrasion can also be carried out on a wide range of other materials and products (including concrete, terrazzo, plastics, coatings, laminates, ceramics, and safety glazing).
