Floors are an important operational component of industrial buildings. However, concrete floors can often be a source of problems both during construction and subsequently during service. Cracking, staining, poor abrasion resistance, chemical attack and other defects have all been observed in recently constructed buildings.
Sandberg offers a comprehensive service for investigating existing problems with concrete floors and advises on preventing the occurrence of some of the more common flooring defects. Our multi-disciplinary teams of experienced engineers and technologists undertake site visits to examine flooring defects, supported by our extensive UKAS accredited testing facilities. Tests relevant to concrete floors include:-
- Strength testing on cores
- Pull-off testing of repairs and coatings
- Soundness surveys/non-destructive testing
- Chemical analysis (concrete composition, chloride and sulfate contents etc)
- Petrographic examination
- Slip resistance testing
- Failure investigations
In the event of conciliation or litigation proceedings arising from defective performance of materials, Sandberg can provide consultation and expert assistance.
