Locating leaks in waterproofing is notoriously difficult. Sandberg has two techniques which can be used to pinpoint defects in sheet or liquid-based membranes.
Leaks can be located by tracing electrical paths through the waterproof layer using low voltage equipment. On non-conductive membranes these paths only exist at defects. This is a quick non-intrusive method and the small current used can pass through the existing screed and other overlay materials.
Alternatively, high voltage or ‘holiday’ testing can be used on sprayed membranes. Using this method, defects including pinholes are identified.
As well as tracing elusive leaks in existing construction, our services are now being widely used as a means of quality control on new construction using mastic asphalt, traditional felt or modern single layer membranes.
