Minos graduated from Imperial College London with an MSc in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering and a PhD in Advanced Materials Characterisation. Prior to that, he studied Chemical Engineering in Greece. His research focused on the electrochemical corrosion of stainless steels and Ni-based alloys in the oil and gas industry.
After a year as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Sheffield examining the corrosion of mild steel in carbon capture and storage (CCS) applications, Minos worked as a Materials Engineer at the Thames Tideway Tunnel project for Ferrovial Construction UK.
Since joining Sandberg in 2024, he has been involved in failure investigations of various construction materials, including the following:
- Corrosion assessment of metallic façade components
- Bimetallic (galvanic) corrosion risk assessment of external cladding design
- External Wall Insulation (insulated render) systems
- Magnesium Oxide (MgO) boards
- Extruded Aluminium profiles
- CPVC pipe and intumescent sealants (compatibility)
- UPVC window frame profiles
- Structural and non-structural sealant testing
- On-site impact testing and inspection of safety glazing
He regularly undertakes on-site investigations and condition surveys, testing and report writing. With larger appointments, he assembles and project manages Sandberg teams as needed.
He is a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mines and is part of the Steering Committee of the Firm’s internal Sustainability Forum.
