Testing Bricks, Blocks, Flags and Pavers

Sandberg’s Construction Materials Department can carry out mechanical and physical testing for bricks, blocks, paving blocks, flags and kerbs.

A summary of brick, block, flagstone and paver testing offered by Sandberg:

Brick Testing

Sandberg offers comprehensive brickwork testing as part of our construction material testing services. In addition to the standard physical and mechanical testing of masonry units described in the BS EN 772 series, we also carry out more specialised testing to assess the masonry strength of existing structures.

In particular, we can test large diameter horizontally drilled cores, subjecting them to load in the same direction as the masonry is usually loaded in the wall, as described in IRS 70778-3.

Testing to IRS 70778-3

Testing to IRS 70778-3 allows:

  • Accurate Assessment: Provides evaluation of brickwork properties, crucial for ensuring structural integrity.
  • Standard Compliance: Aligns with IRS 70778-3, gradually replacing UIC leaflets, ensuring up-to-date industry standards.
  • Enhanced Safety: Utilises correction factors to account for material variability, enhancing the reliability of test results.
  • Comprehensive Insights: Offers valuable data for construction projects, aiding in the identification of brick properties and overall quality assurance.
