Sandberg’s Geomaterials department comprises an enthusiastic team of Geologists and Materials Scientists whose principal work is in the analysis and failure investigation of construction materials of various types including concrete and natural stone.
The department are seeking to appoint an assistant technician to help in the basic preparation of samples for testing. This is a critical process requiring care and precision, that will require the successful candidate to cut, grind and polish samples to ready them for testing and analysis.
This role provides the opportunity to work with and learn about a wide selection of natural and manmade construction materials. Additionally the successful candidate will interact with experts from other departments within Sandberg.
This is a full‐time permanent position based in our laboratories in Clapham, London. Previous relevant experience is not essential but would be advantageous. It could be an ideal role for a young person as training will be given.
- Ability to learn new skills
- Ability to operate machinery such as diamond saws, grinding and polishing machines (specific training given where necessary)
- An interest in construction materials
- Ability to arrange and organise own work to meet laboratory sample preparation instructions and schedules
- Experience of working in a laboratory
- Experience of operating cutting and grinding machines
