Summary of Experience

  • Metallurgy
  • Product Development
  • Materials Testing
  • Fabrication & Welding
  • Inspection of Materials and Welding

Simeon has over 20 years’ experience in the Metallurgy and Welding industry, starting as an apprentice and an offshore installation yard, moving onto a Batchelors Degree in Mechanical and Materials engineering, supplemented by taught and research postgraduate education. With the majority of his working life in the UK Steel industry working across all parts of steel manufacture and production. Starting in coil, galvanisation and organic coated materials, moving to sections, plates, bar and pipes, ending as Technical Support Manager for all multi metal products and forms for the International division of the company. This allowed work and cooperation in numerous steel mills across the world stretching from the Far East, and as west as the USA. For several years moving to Scandinavia and working in multiple European mills, supporting many product initiatives and developments. During this time using previous knowledge to apply to emerging mills and applying latest technologies, producing weldability documents and also work in high strength steel/ultra high strength steels, to name a few achievements. On returning to the UK working for a large multinational organisation as a Senior Metallurgist working with multi metals and alloys, then returning to the UK steel industry as Technical Manager prior to joining Sandberg.

Working full circle in the industry has allowed the understanding of the product need and requirements, giving Simeon a fully rounded experience to help and assist. This would be in all forms of metallurgy, from production, manufacture to the end product formability and welding needs.

For many years Simeon has sat on various committees such as, BSi for the EN 10025, EN 10028, as examples – he sits as technical specialist on EN 10164 for the UK. He sits on TWI on the Welding Specialist and Practitioners Committee, IOM3 Material Failure Investigation Group and a recognised Chartered Engineer in the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and also the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
