Measurement and Datalogging

Instrumentation of structures or mechanical components allows physical changes to be identified, measured and recorded with time enabling informed decisions, or design developments, to be based on actual performance data.

A datalogger installation may be short or long term, ranging from minutes to many years. Remote equipment might be solar powered with control and download through GSM links. Dataloggers can undertake sophisticated analysis and processing of measurements with alarm or control functions. The possibilities are endless.

Any parameter that can be measured or monitored using an electric sensor may be displayed interactively or linked into a datalogger for recording. The most frequent qualities that might be monitored are :-

  • Temperature
  • Displacement/movement
  • Strain/stress/load
  • Wind speed and direction
  • Water levels/pressure
  • Vibration/frequency/speed/ acceleration
  • Events (eg pump operation)

Sandberg offers design, build, installation and monitoring services with equipment being available on hire for short contracts. Clients can download data from their own offices or have results presented in report form.
