Floors are an important operational component of industrial buildings. However, concrete floors can often be a source of problems both during construction and subsequently during service. Cracking, staining, poor abrasion resistance, chemical attack and other defects have all been observed in recently constructed buildings.

Sandberg offers a comprehensive service for investigating existing problems with concrete floors and advises on preventing the occurrence of some of the more common flooring defects. Our multi-disciplinary teams of experienced engineers and technologists undertake site visits to examine flooring defects, supported by our extensive UKAS accredited testing facilities. Tests relevant to concrete floors include:-

  • Strength testing on Cores
  • Pull-off testing of Repairs and Coatings
  • Soundness Surveys/Non-Destructive Testing
  • Chemical Analysis (concrete composition, chloride and sulphate contents etc)
  • Petrographic Examination
  • Slip Resistance Testing

In the event of conciliation or litigation proceedings arising from defective performance of materials, Sandberg can provide consultation and expert assistance.

Our experience and independence together with our understanding of client needs and priorities enable us to offer an excellent value service to our clients.
