There has been a tremendous resurgence in the use of traditional materials and many training courses have been set up to reintroduce lost skills. Having worked with English Heritage, the National Trust and other bodies over many years, Sandberg has wide experience of the selection of repair materials, identification of the original material's composition using chemical, petrographic and visual techniques.

Historic Mortars
Architects, restoration experts and conservators involved in the repair or replacement of eroded parts of historic buildings frequently require to know the make-up of old or even ancient mortars, renders and plasters - without recourse to the costly techniques used by some researchers and archaeologists. Over many years Sandberg have developed an acknowledged reputation in this specialised area and hold a Commission from English Heritage for this work.
